Is it necessary to study about food in a Scripture study? Surely there are spiritual issues that are much more important! Does it really matter to YHVH what we eat?

Consider the following:

1. The First sin - eating the forbidden fruit (disobedience).

2. The First temptation offered to Y'hoshua by Satan - bread.

3. The last meal eaten by the Israelites before leaving Egypt - Passover. "....not one feeble person among their tribes." Psalm 105:37

4. The last meal that the disciples experienced with Y'hoshua before his death and resurrection - Passover.

Proverbs 4:20-22 "My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh."

Psalm 19:7 The Scriptures were inspired by YHVH and authored by Y'hoshua. They are perfect and complete for the restoring of the soul and body.

Do the dietary laws stated in Leviticus and Deuteronomy apply to all Believers today or were they only for Old Testament Believers?

Hebrew 13:8 "Y'hoshua the Messiah the same yesterday, and today, and forever."

Malachi 3:6 "For I am YHVH, I change not..."

Matthew 5:17,18 "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled."

Matthew 24:35 "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away."

Luke 16:17 "And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tittle of the Law to fail."

The Torah (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy) contain instructions for preserving life, recognizing sin and give us right standing in the sight of YHVH.

Y'hoshua walked in total compliance with the instructions in the laws of YHVH. This is what made Him sinless. He never transgressed the Law. Since He obeyed all of the laws to be sinless, does it not follow that to be free from sin, we need to obey all of the Law, except those portions which have been changed?

Hebrews 7:12 "For the priesthood being changed, of necessity there is also a change of the Law."

The laws concerning what we are to eat have never been changed.

1John 3:4 "Whosoever commits sin also transgresses the Law, for sin is transgression of the Law."

(Here are a few selections)

Leviticus 11:2-8 "...These are the animals which you may eat among all the animals that are on the earth: Among the animals, whatever divides the hoof, having cloven (split) hooves, and chewing the cud - that you may eat. Nevertheless these you shall not eat among those which chew the cud or those that have cloven (split) hooves: the camel, because it chews the cud but does not have cloven (split) hooves, is unclean to you; the rock hyrax (badger), because it chews the cud but does not have cloven hooves, it is unclean to you; the hare (rabbit), because it chews the cud but does not have cloven hooves, it is unclean to you; and the swine (pig), though it divides the hoof, having cloven hooves, yet does not chew the cud, it is unclean to you.

Their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch. They are unclean to you."

(Deuteronomy 14:3-8 repeats this same law. Verse 3 calls the "unclean animals" detestable things in the NKJ; abominable things in the KJV. The Amplified Bible states in verse 3 "You shall not eat anything that is abominable to YHVH and so forbidden by Him.)

"These you may eat of all that are in the water: whatever in the water has fins and scales, whether in the seas or in the rivers - that you may eat. But all in the seas or in the rivers that do not have fins and scales, all that move in the water or any living thing which is in the water, they are an abomination to you. They shall be an abomination to you; You shall not eat their flesh, but you shall regard their carcasses as an abomination. Whatever in the water does not have fins or scales - that shall be an abomination to you." Leviticus 11:9-12

And these you shall regard as an abomination among the birds; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, the vulture, the buzzard, the kite, and the falcon after its kind; every raven after its kind, the ostrich, short-eared owl, the sea gull, and the hawk after its kind; the small owl, the fisher owl, and the screech owl; the white owl, the jackdaw, and the carrion vulture; the stork, the heron after its kind, the hoopoe, and the bat. (Leviticus 11:13-19

The word translated ostrich is Strong's number 3284. The word literally means "daughters of the owl." An ostrich is not like the other birds, it is not a bird of prey; therefore, it is not unclean and may be eaten.

These you may eat: the locust after its kind, the destroying locust after its kind, the cricket after its kind, and the grasshopper after its kind. (Leviticus 11:22 )

But all other flying insects which have four feet shall be an abomination to you. By these you shall become unclean; whoever touches the carcass of any of them shall be unclean until evening; whoever carries part of the carcass of any of them shall wash his clothes and be unclean until evening: The carcass of any animal which divides the foot, but is not cloven-hoofed or does not chew the cud, is unclean to you. Everyone who touches it shall be unclean. And whatever goes on its paws, among all kinds of animals that go on all fours, those are unclean to you. Whoever touches any such carcass shall be unclean until evening. Whoever carries any such carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until evening. It is unclean to you.

These also shall be unclean among the creeping things that creep on the earth: the mole, the mouse, and the large lizard after its kind; the gecko, the monitor lizard, the sand reptile, the sand lizard, and the chameleon. These are unclean to you among all that creep. Whoever touches them when they are dead shall be unclean until evening. Anything on which any of them falls, when they are dead shall be unclean, whether it is any item of wood or clothing or skin or sack, whatever item it is, in which any work is done, it must be put in water. And it shall be unclean until evening; then it shall be clean. Any earthen vessel into which any of them falls you shall break; and whatever is in it shall be unclean: in such a vessel, any edible food upon which water falls becomes unclean, and any drink that may be drunk from it becomes unclean. And everything on which a part of any such carcass falls shall be unclean; whether it is an oven or cooking stove, it shall be broken down; for they are unclean, and shall be unclean to you. Nevertheless a spring or a cistern, in which there is plenty of water, shall be clean, but whatever touches any such carcass becomes unclean. And if a part of any such carcass falls on any planting seed which is to be sown, it remains clean. But if the water is put on the seed, and if a part of any such carcass falls on it, it becomes unclean to you. And if any animal which you may eat dies, he who touches its carcass shall be unclean until evening. He who eats of its carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until evening. He also who carries its carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until evening.

And every creeping thing that creeps on the earth shall be an abomination. It shall not be eaten. Whatever crawls on its belly, whatever goes on all fours, or whatever has many feet among all creeping things that creeps on the earth - these you shall not eat, for they are an abomination. You shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creeps; nor shall you make yourself unclean with them, less you be defiled by them. For I am YHVH your Elohim. You shall therefore consecrate yourselves, and you shall become holy; for I am holy. Neither shall you defile yourselves with any creeping thing that creeps on the earth. For I am YHVY who brings you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your Elohim. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy. This is the law of the animals and the birds and every creeping thing that moves in the waters, and every creature that creeps on the earth, to distinguish between the unclean and the clean, and between the animal that may be eaten and the animal that may not be eaten. (Leviticus 11:23-47)

Ox, sheep, goat, deer, cow, steer, buffalo, etc. The cow has three stomachs that refine, cleanse, and purify his food, therefore it takes 24 hours for his food to be turned into flesh.

1) It has one poorly constructed stomach.

2) Only 4 hours after the pig has eaten polluted and putrid matter it becomes a part of his flesh.

3) It has very limited excretory organs.

4) Pigs are scavenger animals (like the vulture and buzzard). They were created by Elohim as scavengers. When an animal dies and lays in the sun and bloats, until it is broken open and the maggots and putrefaction have set in, then the swine will come and eat up all this filth, thereby keeping disease germs from spreading over the earth and killing off mankind. Scavengers were never created for human consumption.

5) If swine are raised in a feed lot with other animals, they eat and drink the elimination of these animals (as well as that of their own). Even the "corn-fed" hogs eat the dead rats, snakes or any other maggot-infested matter found on the place.

6) Cattle are sometimes infected from the incurable diseases of the hog called the "mad itch". It is transmitted by the hog's saliva on corn which cattle eat. The itching is so horrible that they rub the skin off their mouths on a stump and die.

7) Swine often have "running sores" under their hoofs in which greenish matter oozes out from between their toes. Also, greenish growths are formed in various parts of their body.

8) Israel's parliament approved by a vote of 42 to 15 a ban on pig raising in Israel. Israel has the lowest death rate in the world.

9) Pork spoils from the inside out (other meats such as beef breaks down on the outside first - where it can be easily detected).

10) The trichina is one of 18 worms found in swine (also, lice, and diseases such as rickets and mange as well as countless numbers of parasites). In the March 1950 issue of the Readers Digest, Dr. Laird S. Goldsborough said, "In the flesh of a pig, the trichinae are often so minute and so nearly transparent that, to find them, even with a microscope, is a task for expert scientific inspectors..." Remember this: When you see stamped on a pork product the words, "U.S. Government Inspected and Passed". those words do not mean that any official inspection whatever has been made as to whether this pork is trichinous or not. It has merely passed the routine inspection given meat in general. Even when swine flesh was heated to extremely high temperatures and then put under a microscope - some worms were still alive and moving about. The trichina is just one worm found in the swine, others are: large round worms, gullet worms, three kinds of stomach worms, tiny hair worms, hookworms, thorn-headed worms, nodular worms, whip worms and kidney worms.

1) Leviticus 11:7, Deuteronomy 14:8 YAHVEH's Dietary Law (swine = unclean animals)

2) Proverbs 11:22, "As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion."

3) Isaiah 65:2-4,(AB) "I have spread out My hands all the day to a rebellious people, who walk in a way that is not good, after their own thoughts; A people who provoke Me to My face continually, sacrificing (to idols) in gardens and burning incense upon bricks (instead of the prescribed altar of YHVH), Who sit among the graves (trying to talk with the dead), and lodge among the secret places (or caves where familiar spirits were thought to dwell), who eat swine's flesh, and broth of abominable and loathsome things..." (Also recorded in Isaiah 66:15-17 Amplified Bible)

4) Matthew 7:6, "Do not give what is holy to the dogs; not cast your pearls before swine..."

5) Matthew 8:28-34, Mark 5:11-19, Luke 8:26-39 Y'hoshua casts "unclean" spirits out of a man and into "unclean" swine.

6) Luke 15:11-32, The prodigal Son - through rebellion and "unclean" living is reduced to feeding swine and coveting the swine's food.

"Parts is Parts!!?!"

Every part of the hog, nothing wasted, is sold to the general public...pork chops, ham, bacon, the intestines for sausages and wieners, head cheese of the head, pickled pigs feet, brains, liver, the hide for bacon rind and salt pork, etc. (Wieners and lunch meats, unless specified as beef, are mostly made of the worst trimmings of pork.)

All that do not have both fins and scales, such as the oyster, clam, lobster, shrimp, scallop, catfish, etc. The lobster, shrimp and catfish are scavengers. Scavengers were never created for human consumption!! Fins allow fish to steer a definite course without being at the mercy of the currents and tides. They tend to avoid infected areas of water that can lead to infection. Scales also protect the fish from pollution. If a fish loses several scales, it is in immediate danger of infection. Fish breeders take such a creature, separate it from others and put it in a solution of permanganate of potash to protect it against disease. Only when a fish has both fins and scales does the Scripture call it clean. Those without these safeguards have inadequate excretion.

Fowl such as chickens and turkeys, geese and ducks, etc. The unclean or taboo birds are those who become bloodsuckers or eat carrion or dead wastes...their bodies harbor disease. (The same applies for preditory birds.)

Acts 10 (read carefully) This account of YHVH sending an Isralite (Peter) for the first time to Cornelius, a Gentile (non-Isralite) with the gospel marks the actual beginning of the cleansing of the Gentiles. Up to this point, none of the Isralites, even seven years after the day of Pentecost, believed that the gospel was for any other nation but Israel. This vessel with all manner of unclean beasts came down FROM HEAVEN. YHVH did not show him a den of snakes or hogs ON EARTH. Keep in mind that the vessel was caught up again INTO HEAVEN. The unclean beasts, fowls and creeping things were symbols of the unclean pagan nations, even as they are today. America has an unclean bird, the eagle, as an insignia and coat of arms; England has the lion; Russia, the bear; China, the dragon, etc., all of which are unclean. Peter was now being sent to the house of Cornelius, the Gentile, one of an "unclean" nation. There is not a shred of evidence that Peter's vision had anything to do with diet. Peter's own testimony regarding the vision was "YHVH hath showed me that I should not call any MAN (not animal) common or unclean". The animals YHVH spoke of are not available, for they were "caught up again into heaven." Our all-wise YHVH took this precaution lest we should confuse the vision with dietetics. The animals were merely figures and types.

The Apostle Peter, in his latter years, likens unclean animals to the reprobate and the ungodly when he says, "But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: "A dog returned to his own vomit," and, "a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire." 2Peter 2:22 Thus, Peter many years after his house-top vision uses the swine as a symbol of a man as low as he can picture him, in his filth and fallen state.

The Almighty did not repeal the clean, health-building dietary law and give an across-the-board license to eat all unclean, germ-laden, disease-producing scavenger animal flesh.

Only be sure that thou EAT NOT THEN THE BLOOD: for the blood is the life; and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh. THOU SHALT NOT EAT IT; thou shalt pour it upon the earth as water. THOU SHALT NOT EAT IT that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of YHVY" (Deuteronomy 12:23-25).

There are many other such passages in the Scriptures, such as: 1Samuel 14:32-34; Leviticus 7:26,27; Leviticus 17:10-14; Deuteronomy 12:23.

Disease First in the Blood

Since "the life of the flesh is in the blood," it therefore follows that any disease in the animal must first defile the blood before it can be carried into the flesh of the animal. Upon death putrefaction (decay) will set in much faster with the blood left in the veins.

"This shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations in all your dwellings: You shall eat neither fat nor blood." (Leviticus 3:17).

1) Fatty protein molecules travel in the blood stream, and are deposited on the inner wall of the coronary artery. It isn't long before the blood does not have sufficient room to flow freely through the veins and capillaries - the results: heart attack, cerebral hemorrhage, a stroke, etc.

2) Americans overload their blood streams with fats through bacon, sausage, french fries, rich pastries, etc., not to mention ice cream, excessive butter and syrupy drinks. The blood, instead of having the texture of fine lubricating oil, is more like a thick honey. Remember: our blood is soluble with water; drink plenty of it...BETWEEN MEALS. Do not dilute stomach gastric juices, by washing food down with any kind of drink.

3) Life insurance statistics taken through the years reveal that your life span is definitely shortened through overweight.

1) "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of YHVH, I also will forget your children." Hosea 4:6

2) "Fools despise wisdom and instruction" Proverbs 1:7

3) "A wise man will hear and will increase learning..." Proverbs 1:5

4) "My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: for length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee."Proverbs 3:1,2

5) "Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many" Proverbs 4:10

6) "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."3John 2

7) Proverbs 13:13 "For He who despises the word will be destroyed, but he who fears the commandments will be rewarded."

8) "...we are the temple of the living Elohim; ever as Elohim said, I will dwell in and with and among them...and I will be their Elohim, and they shall be My people. So, come out from among (unbelievers), and separate (sever) yourselves from them, says YHVH, and touch not (any) unclean thing; then I will receive you kindly and treat you with favor." 2Corinthians 6:16,17 (Amplified Bible)

9) "O, that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end" Deuteronomy 32:29 (Build your house/body on solid ground/the Word before the storms/troubles come your way...that you may withstand in times of trouble)

10) "Moses was 120 years old when he died; his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated" Deuteronomy 34:7 (Amplified Bible) MOSES: A leader of men who was led by YHVH wrote the first 5 books called Torah. He died in "perfect health" having excellent eyesight and a body that was strong and free of disease. What a wonderful way to go to Heaven!!!
