DID YOU KNOW that, even if you purchase expensive cuts of meat and sea creatures, what you prepare in your kitchen, and place on your dining table for your family to eat, may not be fit for human consumption? Just because we eat it doesn't necessarily mean that it is food!
Let's look at 2 Kings 6:28-29, "And the sovereign said to her, 'What is troubling you?' And she answered, 'This woman said to me, "Give your son and let us eat him today, and tomorrow we eat my son." So we cooked my son, and ate him. And I said to her on the next day, 'Give your son and let us eat him.' But she has hidden her son.' " They ate the woman's son, but did YHVH intend for him to be eaten as food? If not, let's look at what YHVH does define as food:
1.) Animals that have both split hooves (completely divided) and those that chew the cud;
2.) Fish that have both fins and scales;
3.) Birds that do not eat carrion;
4.) And every flying insect that creeps on all fours, those which have jointed legs above their feet with which to leap on the earth.
Leviticus 11:46-47, "This is the Torah of the beasts and the birds and every living creature that moves in the waters, and of every creature that creeps on the earth, to make a distinction between the unclean and the clean, and between the living creature that is eaten and the living creature
that is not eaten." The Word of YHVH says that anything else is an abomination to those who belong to Him. For a more complete account, please read Chapter Eleven in Leviticus.
Now, let's read Paul's words in his letter to Timothy: "But the Spirit distinctly says that in latter times some shall fall away from the belief, paying attention to misleading spirits, and teaching of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having been branded on their own conscience, forbidding to marry, to abstain from foods which Elohim created for partaking with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. Because every creature of YHVH is good, and none is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is set apart by the Word of YHVH and prayer." (1 Timothy 4:1-5)
Notice that it says "food which Elohim CREATED FOR PARTAKING." So, if a religious leader forbids you to eat roast beef on Fridays, he contradicts the Word of YHVH, for a religious leader cannot override the Word of YHVH and what He declared to be clean and acceptable for food! And, if a religious leader tells you that it is permissible to eat pork (i.e., pigs, swine), because this passage says that "every creature YHVH created is good," he/she also contradicts the Word of YHVH. Yes, all creatures are good, but only in the context in which YHVH created them. Some were declared suitable for partaking, while others were designated as scavengers!
We are to eat only what YHVH created for food; and we are not to eat anything that He created for other purposes.
