DID YOU KNOW that you are in bondage to the world if you do not love and obey the Torah?
That claim is supported by 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10, “And then the Lawless One will be revealed, whom Y’hoshua will consume by the spirit of His mouth, and will bring to nought by the brightness of His presence. (His, the Lawless One’s) coming is according to the working of Satan in all power and signs and lying wonders, and in all deceit of unrighteousness in those being lost, because they did not receive the love of the truth in order for them to be delivered.”
This statement is explained in the words of the Messiah, “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32
If that is true, then the opposite is also true: If you do not know (understand) the truth, you will not be free.
Again, what is truth?
“Your righteousness is forever, and Your Torah is truth.” Psalm 119:142
“Sanctify them (set them apart) in Your Truth; Your Word is Truth.” John 17:17
“You are near, YHVH, and all Your commands are truth.” Psalm 119:151
“Great peace is to those who love Your Torah, and there is no stumbling block to them.” Psalm 119:165
“Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105
IF YOU ARE NOT FOLLOWING THE TORAH (THE TRUTH) WITH ALL OF YOUR HEART, YOU ARE FOLLOWING A LIE!
And if you are following a lie, then whom are you following?
“You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44
The Way of YHVH is the Torah and the ways of the Adversary are the ways of the world. The two cannot be mixed – you will be following either one or the other!
Do you ever work at your place of employment on Shabbat or during any of the Appointed Times of YHVH? If you do, how can you claim that you take His commandments seriously?
Exodus 31:15b, ”Whoever does work on the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.”
All religions are of the world, for not one of them teaches the pure Word of YHVH. If you are a part of one of them, think about the Words of the Messiah to the Pharisees and scribes about their traditions: “. . . and in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.” Mark 7:7
However, before you begin to smirk in a feeling of superiority over the scribes and Pharisees, think about these words:
“And on her forehead was a name having been written: Mystery Babylon the Great, the Mother of the Harlots (whores) and of the Abominations of the Earth.” Revelation 17:5
Who is the mother of the whores? The Roman Catholic Church.
And who are her daughters? The protestant denominations that still teach many, if not most, of her doctrines.
Why should a believer come out of any church, whether catholic or protestant?
“And I heard another voice out of Heaven saying, My people, come out of her, that you may not share in her sins, and that you may not receive of her plagues.” Revelation 18:4
And what will her plagues be?
“. . . in one day her plagues shall come: death, and mourning, and famine; and she will be consumed with fire, for Adonai YHVH judging her is strong.” Revelation 18:8
Another of the world’s challenges: Do you have an excessive fondness for money?
If you are able to admit to yourself that this is true, then think abut what Paul wrote to Timothy: “. . . godliness (righteousness) with contentment is great gain. For we have brought nothing into the world, (and it is) plain that neither can we carry anything out. But having food and clothing, we will be satisfied with these. But those purposing to be rich fall into temptation, and a snare, and many foolish and hurtful lusts, which plunge men into ruin and destruction.” 1 Timothy 6:6-9
What is the one reason YHVH gives wealth?
“But you shall remember YHVH Elohekka, for (it is) He who gives to you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers as (it is) this day.” Deuteronomy 8:18
Is this your purpose in seeking wealth? And, if it were all taken away, could you join Job in saying, “. . . I came naked out of my mother’s womb, and naked I shall return there. YHVH gave, and YHVH has taken away. Blessed be the name of YHVH.” Job 1:21
You have to die to self and live only for YHVH, and He will show you how to walk in His way – if you heed the words He gave to Moses. Didn’t He say that we are to do all His statutes, to fear Him for our good forever, to keep us alive, as today? When we live His Word we are alive, but to disregard any part of it makes us the walking dead!
King David understood this: “And the days of David drew near to die. And he commanded his son Solomon, saying, I am going in the way of all the earth. And you be strong, and be a man, and keep the charge of YHVH Elohekka to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commands, and His judgment, and His testimonies, as it is written in the Torah of Moses, so that you may do wisely all that you do . . .” 1 Kings 2:1-3
Does this mean that we cannot change a single word that was given to Moses? Yes, it does! However, you cannot trust the English translations, so that is why you must study diligently in order to receive the understanding that YHVH intended.
When we do, “. . .it shall be righteousness for us when we take heed to do all this commandment before YHVH Elohanu, as He has commanded us.” Deuteronomy 6:25
Remember that Scripture will interpret Scripture if we allow it to do so, because it is imperative that we do not twist it to meet our preconceived ideas.
Now, let’s look at some of the commandments that you may think are not required of you.
Is it valid in the eyes of YHVH to take the words of Paul, using the twisted interpretation devised by Christianity, to change the commands of YHVH? Errors occur when the Torah is filtered through the Commentary, rather than the Commentary being filtered through the Torah. When Commentary is lined up with the Torah, it is a perfect match, but when the Torah is twisted to match Christianity’s understanding of the Commentary writings, you have created a new gospel and a different messiah.
An example: If you are an uncircumcised young male, and you say that you are not required to be circumcised in the flesh because you are circumcised in your heart. Is this true according to Scripture?
It is true that you do not have to be circumcised to receive deliverance? Deliverance comes only with repentance from transgressing the Torah, the instructions given to Moses by YHVH, accompanied by the promise to obey it from that point onward. In Exodus 19:9, didn’t YHVH say to Moses, “. . . Behold, I come to you in a darkness of clouds, so that the people may hear My speaking with you and in you they may believe forever?” Yes, He did.
Do you believe everything that YHVH said to Moses?
If you claim that you do, consider these words: “You shall have one statute, both for the alien and for the native of the land.” Numbers 9:14b
“This is My covenant which you (Abraham) shall keep, between Me and you and your seed after you: Every male child among you shall be circumcised. And you shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin. And it shall be a token (sign) of the covenant between Me and you.” Genesis 17:10-11
There are always consequences for disobeying the Word of YHVH! “And an uncircumcised male who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, his soul shall be cut off from his people; he has broken My covenant.” Genesis 17:14
In Exodus 12:48-49, YHVH gives instructions on who may and may not eat of the Passover: “And when a visitor shall stay with you, and will do the Passover to YHVH, let every male to him be circumcised, and then he may come near to prepare it. And he shall be like a native of the land. But any uncircumcised one may not eat of it. One law shall be to the native, and to the visitor, the one staying in your midst.”
YHVH cannot show partiality, for showing partiality is transgression of the Torah – one rule shall apply for all.
Contrary to the young man’s belief, YHVH has always required circumcision of both flesh and heart. The circumcision of the flesh is an outward sign that you belong to YHVH, and the circumcision of the heart reveals itself by your walk in total obedience to all of His statutes, His commands, His judgment, and His testimonies, as written in the Torah of Moses.
The following verses are witnesses that attest to the statement that circumcision of the heart has always been required, just as it still will be required in the future, for it is worthlessness to keep the commandments without the joy that comes from performing them with all one’s heart.
Deuteronomy 10:16, “And you shall circumcise the foreskin of your heart, and be stiff-necked no longer.”
Jeremiah 4:4a, “Circumcise yourselves to YHVH, and take away the foreskin of your heart . . .”
Ezekiel 44:9, “So says Adonai YHVH: No son of an alien, uncircumcised of heart and uncircumcised of flesh, shall enter into My sanctuary, or any son of an alien who is among the sons of Israel.”
Now the young man has created another problem. In Leviticus 23 he is commanded to keep the Passover; however, in Exodus 12:48-49, YHVH makes it very clear that no uncircumcised male may eat of it. That’s when you begin to see that disobedience begets disobedience!
A similar situation occurs when he also considers himself released from wearing the zitzith because he believes the Torah is written on his heart; therefore, he does not need the zitzith to remind him to keep the commandments. However, he says that he will be willing to wear them if God tells him to.
Let’s examine these statements very carefully and see what Number 15:37-40 actually says?
“And YHVH spoke to Moses, saying, Speak to the sons of Israel and you shall say to them that they shall make themselves fringes (zitzith) on the corners of their garments, for their generations and they shall give a thread of blue with the fringe of each corner. And it shall be to you a fringe, that you may look on Me and remember all the commandments of YHVH, and do them, and that you do not go about after your own heart and your own eyes after which you fornicate; that you may remember and do all My commandments, and be holy (set apart) to Ekohekka.”
The blue thread represents the Messiah Y’hoshua, and that is why He said, “Who touched Me?” “And a woman being in a flow of blood from twelve years, who had spent her whole living on physicians, and could not be cured by anyone, coming up behind she touched the zitzith of His garment. And instantly the flow of her blood stopped. And Y’hoshua said, Who was touching Me? And all denying it, Peter and those with Him said, Master, the crowds press on You and jostle. And do You say, Who was touching Me? But Y’hoshua said, Someone touched Me, for I knew power was going from Me. And seeing that she was not hidden, the woman came trembling and kneeled down before Him and told Him before all the people for what reason she touched Him, and how she was instantly cured. And He said to her, Daughter, be comforted. Your trust has healed you. Go in shalom.” Luke 8:43-48
Is it really an option on whether or not a male wears them? And is it Scriptural for the young man to wait for a voice to tell him to wear the zitzith when YHVH has already given it as a commandment? Isn’t this just a cop-out because it is something he actually doesn’t want to do?
What else does YHVH have to say about the zitzith?
In Zechariah 8:20-23, “So says YHVH of Hosts: There shall yet come peoples, and those living in many cities. And those living in one shall go to another, saying, Let us go at once to seek the favor (grace) of the face (presence) of YHVH, and to seek YHVH of Hosts in Jerusalem, and to seek the favor of the face of YHVH. So says YHVH of Hosts: In those days ten men out of all languages of the nations shall take hold, and will seize the skirt (zitzith) of a man, a Jew, saying, Let us go with you, for we have heard that El is with you.”
What if he weren’t wearing the zitzith? The ten men out of the nations would not have recognized him as belonging to YHVH, so they would not have sought knowledge from him about YHVH of Hosts. You can’t tell someone the truth of YHVH unless you also are living it. Otherwise, they will recognize you as a liar!
1 John 2:4-7, “And by this we know that we have known Him, if we keep His commands. The (one) saying, I have known Him, and not keeping His commands, is a liar, and the truth is not in that one. But whoever keeps His Word, truly in this one the love of El has been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him. The one claiming to rest in Him ought to walk himself as that One walked. Brothers, I do not write a new commandment to you, but an old commandment, which you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the Word, which you heard from the beginning.”
True, the zitzith were given as a reminder to keep the commandments of YHVH, but they also are a visible sign that the person wearing them is set apart to YHVH. After all, the ten gentiles ran to the obedient one wearing the zitzith, not the disobedient one without zitzith, to learn about YHVH.
Any decision to disregard the most minute part of the Torah, or to teach it from any perspective other than what YHVH gave, is teaching false doctrine.
What is the most important instruction that He gave over and over? “Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter into the kingdom of Heaven, but the (ones) who do the will of My Father in Heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name do many works of power? And then I will declare to them, I never knew you; depart from Me, those working lawlessness! Then everyone who hears these Words from Me, and does them, I will compare him to a wise man who built his house on the rock . . .” Matthew 7:21-24
What is the will of the Father? The Torah. That is why we are told in Deuteronomy 6:25, “And it shall be righteousness for us when we take heed to do all this commandment before YHVH Elohanu, as He has commanded us.”
Again, in Revelation 19:7-8, “Let us rejoice and let us exult, and we will give glory to Him, because the marriage of the Lamb came, and His wife prepared herself. And it was given to her that she be clothed in fine linen, pure and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.”
This is the one thing He has always desired: obedience. If everyone had obeyed His instructions, neither animal sacrifices nor the death of the Messiah would have been necessary, but disobedience brings forth death!
You cannot serve Him while still dabbling your feet in the world! “Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him, because all that which (is) in the world: the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world; and the world is passing away, and its lust. But the (one) doing the will of YHVH abides forever.”
1 John 2:15-17
Did you ever hear the old expression that “a woman can’t be just a little bit pregnant?” Well, neither can you be just a little bit disobedient. He will forgive you if you are truly repentant and ask Him for forgiveness, but if you continue breaking a command over and over again, whether it is by doing something you are commanded not to do, or you do not do something you are commanded to do – you are not repentant!
Are you truly serious about your commitment to YHVH?
If your answer is yes, then this is what is required of you: “And you shall love YHVH Elohekka and keep His charge, and His statutes and His judgments, and His commandments all the days.” Deuteronomy 11:1
You cannot pick and choose which ones you will and will not obey! “For as many as are out of works of the Torah, (these) are under a curse. For it has been written, ‘Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all the things having been written in the book of the Torah, to do them.’” Galatians 3:10 (Reference Deuteronomy 27:26)
Now, we come to the last question, which must be answered truthfully: Does YHVH have all of you?
